Selfies Are Out, “Plandids” Are In. What’s a plandid you ask? It’s a planned candid — typically associated with fashion bloggers, celebrities, and all over your Instagram feed. Here are some tips on taking the perfect plandid.
Sorry Snapchat, Millenials Prefer Instagram. According to eMarketer, 34% of millennial internet users use Instagram daily while 28% use Snapchat.
Apple Joined Instagram, no this is not a joke. While in college, I did an entire strategy for luxury brands resisting social media such as Apple and Rolex. 8 years later they are finally getting on board…sort of. See Apple’s “Shot On iPhone” Instagram strategy.
Social Advertising
Facebook Event Custom Audiences – Facebook released a new advertising capability enabling you to target or exclude people who responded to a Facebook Event. You can also create audiences of people who have engaged with multiple events.
Use Case: If you are hosting a local event, a concert, or a music festival, for example, you can target anyone who’s expressed interest in the event and send them announcements or updates such as headliners. You can also exclude anyone who has responded to your event and try to reach more people to join your event page.
Facebook Stops Counting Clicks On Ads Where People Bounce Back in Less Than 2 Seconds – Facebook is (FINALLY) raising their standards for the audience network — you know, the placement that brings down your CPC but usually looks super spammy and doesn’t typically show any results on your website. To eliminate cases where people accidentally clicked on an ad or app and then bounce back, Facebook will no longer be counting those as “clicks” if it’s under 2 seconds🙌
Snapchat’s Self-Serve Ads Manager is HERE, and it looks a lot like Facebook’s Ad Manager. Social Media Marketers rejoice🤗
Promote Posts with Multiple Images on Instagram – Love posting carousels and posts with multiple photos on Instagram? Good news, now you can promote those posts directly from Instagram to reach people near your business, get more profile visits, or drive more traffic to your website.
Pinterest Releases Video Ads – Yes, you heard that right. Pinterest finally released video ads using third party measurement systems, Moat and Nielsen. Find out more here.
